House System

Establishment of House System and its Procedure

The policy under review is designed to implement the house system in schools managed by the Memon Educational Board.

Objectives

  • To train students to live together despite differences in individual characteristics.
  • Tolerating dissent, learning to follow a procedure against one’s own opinion.
  • Planning, implementing decisions, and analysing results.
  • To have the ability to perform a task together.
  • Acquiring the ability to lead and obey.
  • Acquiring the ability of individual and collective discipline.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To be a confident and committed leader.
  • Taking an active role in regular and special school activities.

Organisation

  • Four houses will be established by selecting students from different groups of the school;  a) Blue House b) Greenhouse c) Red House ) Yellow House.
  • House formation will be implemented at the school level resulting in automatic formation of four house groups in each class.
  • Central House Leader and group in-charge will be appointed at class level.
  • The invigilator of each house will be chosen from among the teachers, similarly each class teacher will be invigilator of all four groups of his class.
  • School and class level supervising teachers will be in strong and constant contact with their respective house leaders and group in-charges.
  • Each house shall have a committee consisting of group in-charges of the class.
  • Each House will organize monthly planning and review of the previous month in the monthly meeting of Majlis-e-Amila.
  • Group meeting will be held at class level after House meeting.
  • Each house shall hold a meeting of the members once in a quarter in which the performance report of the previous quarter shall also be presented.
  • The in-charge teacher of the house will perform the duty of supporting and guiding the house leader in organizing meetings and activities.

Methods

  • Initially the annual planning of the house system will be done in the presence of the principal and vice principal in consultation with the teachers in charge of the house.
  • After the house system is stabilized, the four caretakers and the house leaders will hold an annual consultative meeting and recommend the annual plan to the principal.
  • The slogan, color and flag of each House shall be decided and advertised in mutual consultation in the House Executive Council and with the approval of the House Warden.
  • As per the annual plan the general functions of the school like school assembly, disciplinary matters etc. will be given to the House on a monthly basis.
  • The role of each house in various campaigns and programs will be defined.
  • Extra-curricular activities will be organized.
  • Inter-house co-curricular and sports competitions will be conducted for inter-house competition.
  • Group in-charge and house leader will prepare performance report every month and submit it to their supervisor.
  • The House Leader shall prepare quarterly performance report of the House and submit it to the Supervisor.
  • Caretaker will present the quarterly performance report of the house with Principal and Vice-Principal in quarterly meeting.
  • Annual performance reports shall also be prepared and submitted as per point ix and x (last 2 points).

 

Specific goals for the Year

As the house system is new, students will be trained to live and work together in the first year. The following 7 goals will be achieved this year.

Objective

(1) Every boy/girl should be associated with one or the other house.

(2) Group/class in-charge and house leader should be appointed.

(3) In-charge teacher should be appointed.

(4) House committee monthly and members quarterly Meeting to be held.

Activities

(5) In each house, preparations will be made in the genres of recitation, hymn, naat, call to prayer, speech, essay writing, calligraphy, model making, tableau.

(6) The annual target shall be to produce at least three children in each gender at the school level.

 (7) School level competitions will be held and prizes will be awarded in each category. A child will be able to participate in all the categories but can be selected for the prize in only two categories.
